Principal Process Improvement Lead

Salary Range: $115,000 – $140,000
Position Summary
The Principal Process Improvement Lead (Lean Six Sigma) leads process management, operational excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives across utility asset, GIS, and data programs. This role is responsible for evaluating current-state performance, designing future-state workflows, and driving measurable improvements in efficiency, quality, and consistency within a regulated utility environment.
The role works closely with program managers, data managers, GIS teams, and quality leadership to embed structured improvement methodologies and ensure process changes are effectively implemented and sustained.
Key Responsibilities
Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement
- Lead Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) and Lean Six Sigma initiatives across utility programs
- Evaluate current-state processes and design future-state workflows aligned with program objectives
- Facilitate root cause analysis and develop corrective action plans to address performance gaps
- Develop and maintain KPIs, scorecards, and performance dashboards
- Track process performance metrics such as cycle time, error rates, and rework volumes
- Support leadership with data-driven insights and improvement recommendations
- Support development and refinement of internal controls and standard work
- Ensure process documentation aligns with governance, compliance, and quality expectations
- Partner with quality teams to ensure corrective actions are properly implemented and validated
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements
- Support change management efforts to ensure adoption of new workflows
- Provide coaching and guidance on continuous improvement best practices
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Business, or related field preferred)
- 7+ years of experience in process improvement, operational excellence, or continuous improvement roles
- Experience applying Lean Six Sigma methodologies in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience facilitating process workshops and improvement initiatives
- Ability to translate data into actionable insights
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt strongly preferred
- Experience supporting regulated or utility environments
The salary range for this position is provided in good faith and is subject to variation based on geographic location, candidate experience, and market conditions. Final compensation will be determined after a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s qualifications and alignment with the role.
