Celerity has an opening for a Data Analyst. As a Data Analyst Consultant specializing in the Utility Sector, you will bring analytical and strategic expertise to provide consultancy services to utility organizations. In this role, you will collaborate with clients to identify business needs, elicit requirements, and analyze data to drive informed decision-making. Your objective is to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of utility operations through insightful analysis, geospatial assessments, and the implementation of data dashboards.
Client must be based in the Los Angeles area and will be required to work in person at the client’s office in Santa Ana on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities
Requirements Elicitation and Problem Analysis
  • Work closely with utility clients to understand business objectives, processes, and challenges.
  • Elicit, document, and analyze business requirements, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of client needs.
Geospatial Analysis & Asset Validation
  • Perform Desktop Geospatial analysis to locate missing assets.
  • Validate asset location using tools such as ArcGIS Online, Map3D, Google Earth, and LiDAR.
  • Identify missing records in SCE Records Management Systems (SAP, cGIS, Circuit Mapping).
  • Review field-captured photographic evidence and document when key information is found.
Data Analysis and Interpretation
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to derive actionable insights and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Translate complex datasets into clear and concise findings, providing valuable recommendations for improvement.
  • Consolidate research and field evidence to prepare documentation necessary for System of Record corrections.
  • Research and make recommendations on how to correct asset records that have conflicting details between field conditions and digital records.
  • Utilize multiple sources of information to piece together logical conclusions and make recommendations for data remediation.
Dashboard Creation
  • Develop data dashboards and visuals per client direction.
  • Establish processes and procedures for developing dashboards.
  • Perform dashboard enhancements and visual improvements to existing dashboards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve dashboard issues.
  • Perform monthly dashboard updates.
Process Improvement & Documentation
  • Identify opportunities for business process improvement within utility operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Utilize technical writing to document logical conclusions and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Document data remediation processes and apply continuous improvement ideas to implement process enhancements.
Technology Solution Evaluation
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure proposed solutions meet business needs.
Change Management & Training
  • Support the development and implementation of change management strategies for process improvements and technology implementations.
  • Provide guidance on overcoming resistance and fostering a positive transition within organizations.
  • Train other employees on how to complete the research required, build relationships, and provide constructive feedback to peers.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, technology teams, and leadership to facilitate effective communication and understanding.
  • Bridge the gap between business requirements and technical implementation.
Documentation and Reporting
  • Create clear and concise documentation of business processes, requirements, and analysis findings.
  • Generate reports and dashboards to communicate key performance indicators and project progress.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, GIS, or a related field, or equivalent job-related experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a business analyst, technical analyst, or consultant specializing in the utility or energy sector.
  • Demonstrated success in gathering and analyzing business requirements.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to translate business needs into practical technology solutions.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
  • Experience with geospatial analysis, GIS tools, and data remediation processes.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with clients, business stakeholders, and technology teams.
  • Basic project management skills or experience in coordinating project activities.
  • Understanding of change management principles and experience in supporting process improvements.
  • Proficient in creating clear and concise documentation of business processes, requirements, and analysis findings.
Technical Qualifications
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Alteryx Designer, Tableau, Microsoft PowerApps, and/or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience using ArcGIS Online, Map3D, Google Earth, LiDAR, SAP, cGIS, and Circuit Mapping tools.
  • Basic knowledge of technology solutions and their applications in the utility sector.
