Position Summary
The Staff Consultant (QA/QC) plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, completeness, and readiness of utility program deliverables. This individual serves as a central coordinator between project teams, internal stakeholders, and client legal/compliance groups—supporting audit activities, validating documentation, and maintaining strong QA/QC controls across all workstreams.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in detail-driven environments and enjoys working at the intersection of data validation, compliance, and project execution within regulated utility programs.

Key Responsibilities
QA/QC & Audit Coordination
  • Serve as a primary liaison between project teams and client legal/compliance groups to support audits and regulatory reviews
  • Coordinate audit requests, organize supporting documentation, and track deliverables through completion
  • Ensure all project outputs meet QA/QC standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations
  • Maintain audit trails, documentation repositories, and traceability of all deliverables
  • Conduct pre- and post-submission reviews to confirm accuracy, completeness, and compliance

Data Validation & Documentation Review
  • Validate, reconcile, and verify utility data, engineering records, and project documentation
  • Review job packages, engineering drawings, and asset records (overhead and underground systems)
  • Confirm alignment between field conditions, system of record (GIS/SAP), and supporting documentation
  • Identify discrepancies, data gaps, and compliance risks, and escalate as needed

Project Execution & Support
  • Support Project Managers in delivering high-quality, compliant project outputs
  • Develop and apply QA/QC frameworks, checklists, and structured review processes
  • Track project progress using logs, audit trackers, and reporting tools
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and execution

Monitoring, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
  • Perform quality control inspections and sampling of project outputs
  • Analyze trends in audit findings and recommend process improvements
  • Enhance QA/QC templates, tools, and training materials
  • Document best practices and lessons learned to improve delivery consistency

Data Analysis & Systems Use
  • Perform data analysis, calculations, and consistency checks using Excel and related tools
  • Conduct data searches and validation using systems such as GIS, SAP, and document repositories
  • Prepare clear, client-ready reports summarizing findings and insights

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Data/Information Management, journalism or related field
  • 1+ year of experience in QA/QC, audit support, compliance, data validation, or related work
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and documentation quality
  • Experience working with structured review processes, checklists, or control frameworks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Preferred
  • Experience in the utility, energy, or infrastructure industry
  • Familiarity with regulatory or compliance-driven programs (e.g., CPUC, FERC, or internal audit environments)
  • Experience working with GIS, SAP, or similar enterprise systems
  • Background in engineering documentation, records management, or audit coordination
  • Strong proofreading/editing skills for technical and compliance documentation

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods

The salary range for this position is provided in good faith and is subject to variation based on geographic location, candidate experience, and market conditions. Final compensation will be determined after a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s qualifications and alignment with the role.
